Evaluation of the effect of Kanuni Boulevard on Aydınlıkevler neighborhood boundaries in the context of user opinions

It is important that neighborhoods, which are the small building blocks that make up the city, are places where basic needs can be met on foot, which enable full and healthy social relationship networks to be built, and which create belonging. In this respect, the components of the concept of neighborhood have been determined, and the elements that can turn into borders outside the administrative borders of the neighborhood have been examined. The border perception created by Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Boulevard, a road structure that has different functions from its purpose, in Aydınlıkevler District was found worth examining. How the boulevard was perceived by the neighborhood residents and how they positioned the boulevard while drawing the neighborhood boundaries in their minds was determined through a survey. The findings obtained from the study were examined as the effects of Kanuni Boulevard. When the structural, social, economic and psychological effects of the boulevard on the neighborhood are revealed and the results are associated with the perception of border, it is seen that the boulevard creates a border effect in the neighborhood. It has been determined that it breaks the spatial integrity in the neighborhood, negatively affects the spatial comfort and the reception of basic services, and the pedestrian transportation problems created by the boulevard in the neighborhood create unusable public service areas, deaf surfaces and unhealthy developing connection spaces. It has been revealed that these flow disturbances are caused by the border effect created by Kanuni Boulevard. Suggestions have been put forward that can increase pedestrian flow, strengthen neighborhood communication and soften the perception of borders.
