Abstract (EN)

Lymphomas are generally divided into two main groups as Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas are also divided into two groups as B-cell and T-NK-cell. In our study, the cases who were diagnosed with nodal/extranodal lymphoma in the Department of Pathology of Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2014 have been evaluated retrospectively according to 2008 World Health Organization (WHO) classification. Lymphomas have been histologically divided into four groups as mature B-cell neoplasms, mature T-NK cell neoplasms, Hodgkin's lymphoma, and histiocytic and dendritic cell neoplasms. Moreover, each group has been divided into subgroups. The majority of 1136 cases with lymphoid neoplasia in our study were mature B-cell neoplasms (%79,2). The most common lymphoid neoplasms are large B-cell lymphomas with 253 cases (%22,3), plasma cell myeloma with 252 cases (%22,2) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia/ small lymphocytic lymphoma with 230 cases (%20,2), respectively. The prevalence of follicular lymphoma (%2,6 of lymphoid neoplasms) was lower than that in Europe and the United States. Mycosis fungoides were most frequently seen among mature T-NK lymphoid neoplasms (66 cases, %5,8 of lymphoid neoplasms). Of the cases with lymphoid neoplasia included in the study, %62,1 were male and %37,9 were female. A male predominance was also observed in different groups, which were B-cell lymphomas, NK-T cell lymphomas and Hodgkin's lymphoma. Nodal B and T-NK cell lymphoma and Hodgkin's lymphoma were diagnosed mostly in the cervical lymph node. The gastrointestinal system (GIS) is the most common anatomic site among 216 cases with extranodal lymphomas (55 cases, %24,5). The Waldeyer's ring was the second most common site for extranodal lymphomas (52 cases, %24). Consequently, it was observed in our study that B-cell lymphomas were the most common among lymphoid neoplasms and large B-cell lymphoma was the most common among B-cell lymphomas. The obtained results would be a source for subsequent studies.
