Abstract (EN)

This study, 62 head Karayaka sheep pre-breeding weights of the was carried out to examine the effects of the pre-breeding ewe weight of Karakaya sheep breed, maternal postpartum weight and placental characteristics on the birth weight of 70 head lamb over 8 parameters (pre-breeding ewe weight, maternal age, gender, parturition type, placental weight, placenta area, the shape of the cotyledon, number of cotyledon). In the study, the pre-breeding ewe weight of Karakaya sheep was found to be statistically significant on lamb birth weight. (r = 0.147). Also, in the study, the following parameters; maternal age (r = 0.119), gender (r = 0.113), parturition type (r = 0.643), placental weight (r = 0,604), placenta area (r = 0,323), the shape of the cotyledons (r = 0,074), number of cotyledons (r = 0,161) was found statistically significant on lamb birth weight (P <0.05). As a result, it was determined that the weight before breeding affects birth weight in Karayaka sheep. July 2020, 31 Pages. Keywords: Mating, Birth weight, Placenta, Cotyledon, Karayaka sheep.
