The effect of writing studies with caricature on the creative writting skill of secondary school students

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of caricature-based writing studies on the development of 7th grade students' creative writting skills For this purpose, the caricatures determined in view of students'development level were used. Different activities for every caricature have been prepared and followed a way from simple to complex. At the end of all activities, the effects of caricatures on the creative writing skill have been investigated. In the research, It has been used pretest-posttest and experimental design with the controlled group. Research sample consists of total 46 students who study in two different 7th grade classes at Yeni Mahalle Secondary School in Ankara, in the second term of the 2017-2018 educational year.The research lasted total seven weeks, in two lesson hours a week . The data on the research have been gained with ''Creative Writing Survey'' developed by Öztürk(2007). The data evaluated as statistics have demonstrated that caricature-based writing studies prove the significant difference in the text that students generated, in terms of the originality of ideas, the fluency, and flexibility of thoughts, word richness, sentence structure, organization, grammaticalness, writing style level.
