Lecturer's opinions on the useability of violin and cello duos in music education departments

The purpose of the present study was to examine the usability of violin and cello duos by violin, cello, and chamber music instructors and their students in the departments of music education. The study was prepared using a mixed model in which qualitative and quantitative research methods were used together. In this study, which is based on content analysis, which makes a detailed examination and interpretation of the usability of violin and cello duos.; Violin and cello duos were reached with the scanning method used in qualitative research. The data of the study were obtained by using a semi-structured interview form. The opinions of a total of 16 faculty members who were working in music education departments of universities were consulted. Quantitative findings obtained; Anova and correlation tests were performed on the data examined in terms of relationship, and average-based data were presented and interpreted in tables and graphs. The qualitative findings obtained are; Meaningful elements were coded according to a specific system and categories reflecting common features and themes in the data were created. Recurring main ideas and concepts in the data were determined as themes, and the findings were analyzed and their meanings were interpreted. Within the scope of the present study, it was found that the violin and cello duos determined by the researcher were not known enough by the relevant faculty members and students, the works were not used enough in chamber music lessons, and they were not included enough in the concert repertoire, and suggestions were made for the solutions to the problems encountered. It is considered that the study will serve as a resource for similar studies to be conducted in the future.
