Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to obtain the seismic fragility curves of concrete arch dams within the framework of performance-based earthquake engineering. For that reason, firstly, a two-dimensional model of a concrete gravity dam was created and seismic damage analysis was performed. With this analysis, the suitability of the parameters of the Drucker-Prager concrete material model has been demonstrated. The seismic damage analyses of a high concrete arch dam were carried out with this material model at two different earthquake levels (operational based and safety based earthquake levels). Then, the ground motions required for Multiple Stripe Analysis (MSA) method, which is one of the fragility curve analysis methods, were selected and scaled for the application of the arch dam. As a result of the nonlinear analyses performed with the selected ground motions, the correlation between the structural response of the arch dam and the ground motion parameters was investigated. In addition, the fragility curves of the example dam were obtained by the MSA method for three different damage levels (slight, modrate and severe).
