Abstract (EN)
The increasing human population has increased the number of buildings used. This increase in the number of buildings has also affected the cost. This effect has led to the making of various designs in the structural elements of the buildings to design safe, economical, and aesthetic buildings. Castellated beams are designs made in this context. Thanks to the opened holes, they carry the same load as the beams with the equivalent dimensions. Thus reducing the cost part. However, the literature surveys concluded that the design of castellated beams under cyclic loads needed to be adequately examined. This study performed experiments on five samples and analyses on the ABAQUS program to determine the behavior of holes drilled on honeycomb beams for cyclic load with relevant geometric boundary conditions. The cyclic load was applied in the experiments using the FEMA-350 loading protocol. The ratio of the beam height to the hole diameter is equalized to the golden ratio, which is compatible with the boundary conditions, and its effect on the castellated beam design is examined. As a result, it was concluded that castellated beams with hole diameters designed according to the golden ratio carry more load than castellated beams with smaller hole diameters.
