Abstract (EN)
In this study, antioxidant effects of cherry (Cerasus avium) stem in rainbow trout were investigated. With this aim, four different concentration of aqueous methanolic extract of plant (0 % (Control), % 0.1, %0.5 and % 1) were prepared and added to the feed. Fish were fed with the diet for sixty days. The tissue samples (liver and white muscle) and blood samples were taken from each experimental groups at every 20th, 40th and 60th day of the study. From all samples, to determine antioxidant activity, SOD, CAT, GPX, G6PDH and lipid peroxidation were investigated. For immunological studies NBT activity and finally hematology were investigated. At the end of the study, growth performance was also determined. In the study, SOD activity was increased in almost all experimental group in each experimental time compared to control. CAT showed no activity compared to control (P>0.05) except 40th day of the study in % 0.5 KS group (P<0.05). GPX activity showed an increase on 20th day of the study in the % 0.5 KS group compared to control. There was an increasing activity in all experimental group's GPX activity at the end of the study compared to control (P<0.05). G6PDH was decreased in 20th and 40th day of the study in % 0.5 KS group compared to control. In all the other sampling time and groups, G6PDH was not significantly affected compared to control. Lipid peroxidation was showed no differences in all experimental groups compared to control. No significant differences were either determined among groups in terms of growth performance. According to the study results, it can be inferred that cherry stem showed an antioxidant character on 40th day of the study.
