Abstract (EN)
The am of this study is to investigate the relationship between the personality traits of the working individuals and the job satisfaction. The sample of the study consisted of 151 people randomly selected among 594 people working in Adana Seyhan District Municipality and representing one fourth of total employees. The Five Factor Personality Scale was used to measure the personal life satisfaction of the employees and Satisfaction Scale which was developed to measure the job satisfaction of the employees. According to the results, 51% of 151 people were women. 32.5% of the participants were graduated from high school, 17.9% were pre-graduate, 35.7% were undergraduate and 13.9% were master and doctorate. The mean total satisfaction score was 70,1 ± 13,9. The mean of external satisfaction score was found to be lower than the mean of internal satisfaction scores. The mean of external satisfaction score was found to be lower than the mean of internal satisfaction scores. While the parameter with the lowest mean score among the sub-dimensions of the personality traits was the emotional balance (26.3 ± 5.3), the parameter with the highest average was found to be open to innovation(35.0±6.3). When the relationship between total satisfaction sub-dimensions and the five-factor personality analysis sub-dimensions was examined, it was found that there was a weak correlation-positive correlation between responsibility, compatibility, emotional balance, openness and openness to innovation (respectively r = 0.22, r = 0.35, r = 0.29, r = 0.39, r = 0.28). Similarly, there was a weak positive correlation between the participants' external satisfaction and internal satisfaction sub-dimension, emotional balance, extraversion and openness to innovation sub-dimensions (r = 0.22, r = 0.35, r = 0.29, r = 0.39, r = 0.28, respectively). Similarly, there was a weak positive correlation between the participants' external satisfaction and internal satisfaction sub-dimension, emotional balance, extraversion and openness to innovation sub-dimensions (with the order of extrinsic satisfaction, r = 0.23, r = 0.36, r = 0.26, r = 0.30, r = 0.23),( respectively with the order of internal satisfaction r = 0.18, r = 0.30, 0.28, r = 0.31, r = 0.27) These correlations show a statistically significant low positive correlation. While there was no statistically significant difference between the total satisfaction, five factor personality scale and sub-dimension mean scores and gender groups in the study participants, total satisfaction, external satisfaction, internal satisfaction, responsibility, compliance and extroversion scores were found to be higher in females than in males. While there was a statistically significant difference between the total satisfaction, external satisfaction and internal satisfaction and mean age scores of the participants, there was no statistically significant difference between the five-factor personality scale sub-scale mean scores and the age groups. When the regression analysis was performed for the sub-dimensions affecting the total satisfaction score, work and training periods, the compatibility, extroversion and education variables were found to be significant. The 1-point increase in the compatibility score increases the overall satisfaction score by 0.930 units. The 1-unit increase in the outward-facing score increases the total satisfaction score by 0,756 units. A 1-unit decrease in education reduces the total satisfaction score by 3,185 units. The results obtained from the study suggest that the work of the employees in the occupations appropriate to their personality will increase the work efficiency of both themselves and the institutions and organizations they work with.
