Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality traits and leisure negotiation strategies of university students. Survey design was used in this study. Leisure Negotiation Strategies Scale, which was adapted into Turkish by Yerlisu Lapa (2014) and Adjective Based Personality Scale, which was developed by Bacanlı, İlhan and Aslan (2009) were used for data collection. University students who were enrolled in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi Kötekli campus were voluntarily participated in this study. There was a total of 498 students, 233 of whom women and 263 of whom were men. In order to analyze the students' leisure negotiation strategies and personality traits based on gender and faculty differences, independent samples t-tests were used. To evaluate the relationship between the variables simple correlation and regression analyses were conducted. According to the results, university students' personality traits were not significantly differed in terms of gender and faculty. However, based on leisure negotiation strategies results, the students were only found statistically different for skill acquisition strategies in terms of gender (p < 0,05). Correlational analyses showed that there was a significant relationship between two variables and students' personality traits were found significantly predictive of their leisure negotiation strategies. As a result, students who had agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness to experiences personality types were found to use skill acquisition, intrapersonal validation and physical fitness strategies to overcome leisure constraints. Keywords: Personality traits, leisure constraints, negotiation strategies
