Evaluation of some hematological parameters in chronic renal failure patients

Healty kidneys clean the blood and remove extra fluid from the body as urine. Kidneys also produce necessary substances that are useful for body. As a result of oxidant stress and/or decrease of oxidental activity some complications can develop in addition to that progressive and irreversible degeneration of nephron mass of kidneys, choronic reanal failure occurs. End stage tenal failure is accepted as the last stage. From this point, patients must choose one of the renal replacement treament to survive (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, transplantation). Hemodialysis is most common treatment method is used in end stage renal failure in the world.Anemia is a problem that affects nearly %90 of chronic renal failure patients. Altough there are many factors in renal anemia progresion. Eritropoietin hormone deficiency, decrease of erytrocyte lifespan, blood lost, suppression of erythropoesis, the most important patogenetical causes. In this study it is aimed to reserach whether there are anemia progression or not in hemodialysis patients with chronic renal failure and to evaluate the causes of this. In 24 hemodialysis patients and 26 healthy person as control group, erytrocyte, hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, red blood cell distribution width, leucocytes and thrombocytes are measured. According to this research erytrocyte, hemoglobin, hemotocrit, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, leucocytes and thrombocytes parameters have been observed low in the patient group.
