Abstract (EN)
Inthisstudy, we tried toclarify the function between folk literature and culturalmemory, which is closely relatedto folk literature, andlament, which is a product of folk literature, through Eastern Anatolia Region elegies. Cultural memory; It is a type of memory that constantly main tains the life style, beliefs, customs, and cultural codes of nations, is transferred to subsequent generations, and is called there member ingmechanism of societies. Lamentsare; They are melodies in which people Express their cries during fear, grief and excitement after sadevents such as death, separation and longing, by adapting them to certain expressionsand modes. Some social values that are wanted to be remember ed or forgotten can be brought to lightand brought to society through folk literature works, whic hareone of the tools that create social memory. Laments, one of these works, serve to create cultural memory and transfer it from generation to generation by using memory elements existing in society.
