Children education in cultural heritage management

Cultural heritage is the identity of societies. It reflects the perspectives, beliefs and sense of art of communities along with their sociocultural structures and architectural styles. Raising awareness is key to ensure that cultural heritage is safeguarded and passed on to future generations.Earliest achievements for the conservation of cultural heritage begin at home and continue at school. Therefore, education plays a significant role in raising awareness and consciousness. Starting from pre-school age, educating children on the meaning, significance and protection of cultural heritage helps raise conscientious individuals who understand the the importance of preserving and safekeeping cultural heritage. "Child Education in Cultural Heritage Management" study examines the concepts of cultural heritage, its conservation and bequest to future generations. It exemplifies the presentation methods of archaeological sites in Türkiye and worldwide. The study explains the characteristics of exhibiton areas and tries to identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. It elaborates on national and international child-oriented archeological works and highlights their benefit for the child. The study also emphasizes the role and importance of schools and early childhood education in transfering cultural heritage. It analyses the curricula prepared by the Ministry of National Education for primary, secondary and high school students together with the school activites designed for the promotion of and awareness-raising about cultural heritage, as well as workshops and events organized by various institutions and non-governmental organizations.
