An analysis of Tâcū al-Qurra Kirmânî and his work titled al-Burhân fî Tevcîhi Müteşâbihi'l- Qur'ân in the context of repetitions in the Qur'ân

Tâc al-Kurrâ al-Kirmânî lived between the 5th and 6th centuries and was one of the most valuable scholars in the field of Islamic sciences. He was engaged in Islamic sciences from a young age and wrote important works on 'ulûm al-Qur'ân, tafsir and nahw sciences. Although there is not extensive information about al-Kirmânî's scholarly life and personality in the 'tabakat' sources, some expressions/characterizations such as al-Imâm, Tâc al-Qurrâ, 'al-Mukrî', 'al-Muhakkik', 'Burhân al-Dîn', 'Nur al-Dîn', 'al-Fakih' and 'Sika' show that he was a versatile scholar and his scholarly superiority. In addition, scholars such as Yâkût al-Hamâwî, Ibn al-Cazari, and al-Suyûtî report that he had works in various fields, was highly perceptive, and possessed extraordinary insight and intelligence. One of the important works written by al-Kirmânî is al-Burhân Fî Tavcîhi Muttashâbih al-Kur'ân. In this work, al-Kirmânî explains the 'literal' repetitions in the Qur'ân, which is one of the subjects of ulûm al-Qur'ân. Al-Kirmânî stated that there were some previous works on the repetitions in the Qur'ân, and in the introduction of al-Burhân, he explained that he did not find these books sufficient. According to him, in the previous works on this subject, it was sufficient to bring together the repeated verses and not to explain their reasons, purposes and wisdom. In the following opinion, he states that he will explain what are the reasons and wisdoms that require excess, deficiency, presentation, ta'hir, ta'hir, ibdâlî in similar and repeated verses without resorting to exegesis and 'tafsir' of the verses, and that this will be a first with this method and method he will follow. This study, which we have prepared based on this claim in the author's introduction, consists of an introduction and two main chapters. In the introduction, the subject of the study, the conceptual framework, the purpose and method of the study are mentioned. In the first part, after explaining the issues such as the period in which the author lived, his life, his scholarly personality and his works, the issues related to the concept of repetition and Repetition of the Qur'an are examined. In the second part, the introduction of this work, its effect on Ulûm al-Qur'ân, the method used by the author in explaining repetitions and examples from the book are given.
