Abstract (EN)
Turkey has experienced significant globalization through foreign trade since the 1980s. The globalization of trade is important in terms of economic developments in Turkey. In this context, the role and importance of the global value chain, which is one of the most popular concepts of recent years, in Turkish foreign trade is the central hypothesis of the study. In this study, the participation of Turkey and the BRIC countries in the global value chain has been calculated. Within the framework of the evaluation of the relevant literature and empirical calculations, we can say that although these countries have structural and historical differences, Turkey's participation in the global value chain converges with the values of the BRIC countries. However, since the 1980s, Turkey, with its structural current account deficit problem, has differed from these countries. In addition, according to our regression analysis, Turkey's increase in foreign trade participation positively affects GDP growth regardless of imports and exports.
