Examination of institutionalization of professional organizations with public institution status: Example of chambers and commodity exchanges established by the Law no. 5174

Main aim of this thesis study is to determine the institutionalization perception level of the professional organizations with public institution status which are Chambers and Commodity Exchanges established by the Law No. 5174. Also, other aim of the study is to examine relations between institutionalization and institutionalization dimensions with the demographic characteristics of the participants and institutional characteristics. As a data collection tool, the questionnaire form was used in study which contains three parts. In the first part of the data collection tool, there is an information form containing the demographic characteristics of the participants, in the second part, an information form containing institutional characteristics and in the third part, institutionalization scale are included. According to the exploratory factor analysis; formalization, responsibility, cultural power and social responsibility were determined as institutionalization dimensions. In order to test the hypothesis set forth for the purposes of the study, data which were obtained from 216 Chambers and Commodity Exchanges managers or personnel who are deemed appropriate by the managers, were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. As a result of the analysis, professional organizations with public institution status which are Chambers and Commodity Exchanges established by the Law No. 5174 institutionalized at the highest level in the "formalization" and "cultural power" dimensions and at high level in the "responsibility" and "social responsibility" dimensions. However, the perception of the institutionalization of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges was determined at high level. It is thought that this thesis study will be one of the leading studies that examine institutionalization perception of the professional organizations with public institution status.
