Examination of zakirism according to performance theory in Kütahya alevism

This study, titled "Examination of Zakir in Kütahya Alevism According to Performance Theory", aims to examine the service of zakir, which is one of the twelve services in the execution of cems as an element of transfer of the path and erkan to the future in the Alevi tradition and belief universe, by limiting it to the provincial center of Kütahya. In the study, the term and concept meanings of Alevism were examined and the explanations of Performance Theory in the literature were given. In the study focused on performer, text, place, time and participant, which are the elements of performance theory, interviews were held with zakirs who are from Kütahya and perform zakir in Kütahya. Participation was made in the cems organized in the center of Kütahya and the performances of the zakirs were examined with the natural observation technique. The findings were examined according to Performance Theory and determinations were made about the present and future of the zakirs in the Kütahya-centered Alevi tradition and belief, the performances they performed, the resources they used and those who participated in the cem.
