Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the conflicts which are based upon the melting of the sea-ice which is negative part of the climate change and global warming that launched today and increasingly lasting in the future are going to be investigated. In this study, predicated geography on is Arctic Region above the Arctic Circle . The main topic is the conflict on the natural resources beneath the seabed which occur as the result of the melting of the sea-ice in the Arctic. The main subject of this study is the competition over the scarce resources between goverments in order to maintain their economies. These sources are not renewable such as oil, natural gas, and they are found merely with some certain amounts and in some certain regions of the world. Since they carried value, oil and gas has became one of the main reason of the political collisions. Hence, possessing the supply of the hydrocarbon sources which are going to be indispensable and substaintial in the future precipitates a mercilessly competiton between the states. Apart from the scientific activities, there has been no operation in the region up till today, due to the lack of climate condition which are enable to be able to live in the region. Accordingly, any state has not had any authority over the region till today. Yet, the melting ice has alerted both the Arctic states (Denmark, Canada, USA, Russia, Norway) and the non-Arctic states.
