Abstract (EN)

In this study, the Turkish economy was described in the consideration of the information contained in the periodical "Levant Trade Review" published by the American Chamber of Commerce in Istanbul between 1911 and 1931. In the introduction part of the study, the Levant geography, the historical background of Turkish-American commercial relations and the journal of Levant Trade Review Commerce and Economics were briefly mentioned. Then, the National Struggle and the financial conditions of the Republican regime between 1919-1931 as well as the Constitutional Period, the years between 1911-1917 when the Levant Trade Review was released, were investigated. The elements that comprise this economic structure are the issues determined by the journal; agriculture, transport, Turkey's import and export products, managers of economic objectives, mining and other economic principles, given the general and regional often used tables. The articles in the content of our study include American consuls, consular staff, Levant Trade Review reporters in Anatolia, articles on economy by local and foreign newspapers and statistics of domestic and foreign trade chambers. It also consists of statistics published by the official institutions of the Ottoman State. In addition to the subjects mentioned in this study, general lines of Turkish-American commercial relations between 1911-1931 were given according to the articles in the journal.
