Abstract (EN)

In today's dynamic, uncertain and unstable conditions, an average effort of employees may be insufficient. In this context, it can be stated that organizations need energetic and dedicated employees. Thus, work engagement have received increased attention. It is argued that the leader plays a crucial role on employees' work engagement. This thesis study therefore focuses on the leader-member exchange, which emphasizes the mutual relationships between the leader and the members. The aim of the research was to examine the effect of the leader-member exchange on work engagement. The effect of dimensions of the leader-member exchange on work engagement was also examined. The data was collected from 242 participants via online surveys. Hypotheses were tested using simple regression analyses. As a result of the simple regression analysis, it was determined that the leader-member exchange had a positive effect on work engagement. In addition, it was found that the dimensions of leader-member exchange such as contribution, loyalty, affect, and professional respect had a positive effect on work engagement.
