Abstract (EN)

It is known that maritime trade is the most widely used mode of transportation in international trade around the world. For our country, maritime trade is the key to playing an active role in international trade. For this reason, the ports where maritime trade is carried out constitute the backbone of our trade. Especially Istanbul Port is the busiest, the most developed, and the most important import port with the highest trade volume. In order for the trade to progress without interruption in port operations, it is necessary to take and follow up the necessary measures regarding occupational health and safety. As a result of the researches, it is revealed that there are serious problems in occupational health and safety in our country. Occupational accidents and occupational diseases are increasing day by day, since businesses and employees do not attach enough importance to occupational health and safety and do not have the necessary information about the subject. As a result of the research carried out at Istanbul Haydarpaşa Port, carelessness, lack of knowledge and inexperience are among the most important causes of occupational accidents. Based on these reasons, the study has been prepared with the aim of determining the dangers that may be encountered in port operations, calculating risk assessments, and taking the necessary precautions to bring possible accidents to a reasonable level. In the study, a literature review was conducted on the definition of the concept of occupational health and safety, its history, application areas and risk factors. In the next stage, it is aimed to determine the risks that may endanger the occupational health and safety encountered in port enterprises and to determine how these risks can be controlled with which measures. In order to determine the risks and dangers that may be encountered in Istanbul Haydarpaşa Port, precautionary objectives have been developed with the risk assessment study by using the Error Types and Impact Analysis method, which is one of the risk analysis methods.
