Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to examine the number of mathematical history elements in secondary school mathematics textbooks, their handling, location and distribution across learning areas, and to investigate their differences according to grade levels and publication years. The study adopted a qualitative research design and used the document analysis method. The data sources of the research consisted of 17 mathematics textbooks used in the 2024-2025 Academic Year in the Education Informatics Network of the Ministry of National Education and used in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades of secondary education. The elements of the history of mathematics, 'How the Elements of the History of Mathematics are Treated in Textbooks', 'Comparison of the Elements of the History of Mathematics according to grade levels' and 'The Location of the Elements of the History of Mathematics' were analyzed using the 'learning areas' classifications in the 2018, 2024 secondary school mathematics course curriculum. In the 9th-12th grade textbooks, the elements of the history of mathematics are mostly included in the Numbers and Algebra learning section, although the element of the history of mathematics is frequently included in the section where the subject is covered, it is not included in the evaluation section, and the contents of the elements of the history of mathematics scientists mostly include the contributions of scientists to the science of mathematics. Important findings have been reached such as the fact that the Basic Mathematics textbook used at the 12th grade level does not include the mathematical element.
