Strategic importance of the logistics villages for Turkey and an applied research with DEMATEL and MOORA methods on logistics villages in Turkey

In recent years, logistics villages have started to be established in Turkey as well as the world. Starting from here, determining the effective location criteria for logistics villages by explaining the strategic importance of logistics villages for Turkey and determining the 25 logistics villages, whose construction was completed, under construction, in the tender and project phase, in Turkey by the Republic of Turkey State Railways, ranking according to their compliance with these criteria, constitutes the aim of this research. In this thesis, first of all, the concepts of supply chain management and logistics were examined, the strategic importance of logistics villages for Turkey was explained and effective location criteria for logistics villages were determined. Determined criteria; import, export, industry size, proximity to free zone, proximity to highway, proximity to airway, proximity to railway, proximity to port, population and proximity to other logistics villages. The relations and importance levels of these criteria with each other have been reached as a result of the analysis of the criteria evaluations made by 18 experts with the DEMATEL method. According to the result of this analysis, the most important criterion is the industry size criterion. Subsequently, in order to determine the ranking of the logistics villages according to their compliance with these criteria, analyzes were carried out with all approaches of the MOORA method. The analysis results of ratio, reference point and full multiplicative form approaches were evaluated according to the order dominance theory and MULTIMOORA results were obtained. According to MULTIMOORA results, the logistics village with the most effective location was Halkalı-Istanbul, while the last logistics village was Tatvan Rahova-Bitlis. According to the ranking made with the importance coefficient approach, Halkalı-Istanbul has the most effective position. However, according to the results of the analysis made with the importance coefficient approach, the logistics village in the last place was Habur-Şırnak.
