Investigation of the relationship between climate characteristics and agricultural activities of Manisa Salihli district

Manisa, Salihli District is one of Turkey's significant agricultural regions, and understanding the relationship between climate characteristics and agricultural activities is crucial for determining the region's agricultural potential and the impacts of climate change. This study investigates the relationship between the climate characteristics and agricultural activities of Salihli. The first section addresses the definition of climate and the conceptual dimension of climate change, elaborating on its causes and indicators. Climate characteristics, including general circulation and air masses, temperature, precipitation, humidity, evaporation, cloudiness, pressure, and winds, are examined in detail. The second section delves into the effects of climate on agriculture and agricultural enterprises, focusing on drought, soil fertility decline, reduced water resources, excessive rainfall, natural vegetation changes, nutrient deficiencies in plants, diseases and pests, and their impacts on the food sector. In the third section, the agricultural activities and climate relationship of Manisa, Salihli District are explored, covering the general characteristics of the agricultural sector, land and climate conditions, agricultural structure, agricultural production, fruit production, and the effects of climate change in Salihli. Additionally, the impacts of global warming on the agricultural sector are evaluated based on the literature. This study aims to understand the agricultural potential of Manisa, Salihli District, contribute to the determination of agricultural policies, and facilitate the development of sustainable agricultural practices in response to climate change.
