Abstract (EN)

Protection of personal data is an area included in international and national regulations. This information, which establishes a relationship with a specific or identifiable person, is defined as "personal data". Personal data has become in need of more comprehensive protection, especially with the development of technology and the emergence of different platforms. Today, with the transfer of commerce to the electronic field, data creation in the electronic environment has increased. With the increase in data transfer to electronic media among powerless consumers, consumers need more protection in their personal data. Consumers essentially transfer many personal data, including their names, addresses, credit card information, to electronic media, together with the distance electronic contracts they carry out through the website. In the KVKK numbered 6698, there are regulations regarding the rights and obligations of data owners and data controllers. In addition, as data owners, consumers must also be protected under the Consumer Protection Law no. 6502.
