Evaluation of occupational health and safety risks on vocational and technical Anatolian high schools: An example risk analysis

After meeting the physiological needs of humans, the most basic need is the need for security. The need for security, which is a constitutional right, appears as the concept of occupational health and safety in work environments. Today, nearly 3 million people die annually due to work accidents and the financial cost of work accidents and occupational diseases on a global scale corresponds to 4% of the gross domestic product, which shows how important it is to prevent such accidents. It is anticipated that approximately one-third of the students studying in educational institutions in our country will graduate from vocational schools and be employed as technicians or intermediate staff with the title of technician with advanced education. Vocational schools attract attention in occupational health and safety studies, as some studies have shown that vocational and technical school graduates are more exposed to work accidents. There is no doubt that training a workforce with an occupational health and safety culture that is qualified to meet the requirements of the fourth and even fifth industrial revolution will depend on the quality, scope and nature of occupational health and safety studies in vocational and technical schools.
