Investigation of reduced susceptibility to vancomycin in methicillin-resistant staphylococcus

Abstract (EN)

Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most important factors that cause the whole world community and hospital-caused infections. They can be detected in routine susceptibility testing due to the fact that bacteria have very high MIC values against vancomycin in VRSA. On the other hand, it is difficult to detect with routine susceptibility testing applied in the laboratory of VISA/hVISA strains. In our study study, 52 MRSA strains were detected to the Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center Microbiology Laboratory between January 2008 and August 2013 as retrospective isolated from different samples and stocked at -80 °C were used. İt was aimed to investigate the frequency of VISA and hVISA isolates with agar screening, standard E-test, macro E-test, broth microdilution and PAP-AUC methods in these strains. These examples were primarily tested as molecular in terms of with regard to genes of mecA, nuc and 16s. All strains were positive for each of three genes, that is, mecA, nuc and 16s. Vancomycin agar screening, vancomycin microdilution and E-test standards were applied to these strains. Eight of strains were grown at 24 hours an done of them was grown at 48 hours and totaly 9 strains were grown. According to PAP-AUC applied to 9 strains it was detected as 17.3% hVISA at 9 strains.
