Abstract (EN)

It can be assumed that the awareness of microtonal guitar (MG) has recently increased more rapidly compared to classical and other guitar types not only in our country but also worldwide. This research aims to identify the learning needs for MG practices and to describe the general characteristics of these needs. The research is a netnography study based on social media ethnography prepared within the framework of qualitative paradigm. In determining the learning needs related to MG, this design was preferred based on the advantages of people interested in music such as social media usage and economy. In order to provide data diversity in the research, two types of data were utilised. The first type of data is the video comments on the YouTube platform indicating the learning needs for MG. The second type of data is the data indicating the learning needs obtained from the MG practitioners through the interview technique. The qualitative data obtained through netnography method and interview technique were then subjected to content analysis. The qualitative data analysis programme MaxQda Analytics Pro 2020 was used to analyse the research data. In the study, the data were classified as findings related to the theme of general information needs related to the MG instrument and findings related to information needs related to learning-teaching and performance processes, and code-category maps, frequency and percentage distribution tables related to the categories were presented. The third sub-problem is to present a repertoire model that can be used in beginner level MG teaching aiming at artefact-based teaching for MG. As a result of the research, it was described that there is a need for a large number of audio, visual and printed materials in determining the information needs related to MG and in terms of performance. In line with the identified learning needs, a repertoire proposal for beginner level MG teaching is presented.
