The culture of nation state and its aspects in Turkey

ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to show concept of culture of nation-state and is ascepts in Turkey. Because of our study's aim the nation, the state, the nation-state and the culture of nation-state were our initial themes. Towards the end of the fifteenth century centralized absulute monarchies emerged in Western Europe. The absulute monarchies was seen firstly standing armies, a permenant bureaucracy, a codified law and the beginning of a unified market. This kind of changes were the sign of nation-states' beginnings. Especially the cause of Hundred Year Wars were to unite princedoms to protect themselves and to be powerful. The first aspects of nation-state is those unified princedoms and the struggle of centralisation. To be centralized is most important trait for the beginning of nation-state that in this way scocial equality would be rendered. Because of the centralization feudal lords started te lose their power against the national monarcies. At the beginning this was a good change for absulute monarchies that when people became socially equal the unique ruler would only be kings. Constitutional states are also stemmed of social equality that was also important for parliamentary system. The nation-state was modernized by industrialization with its affect on social structures that caused worldwide power of industrial societies. At the same time it was a potential developments of both nationhood and industrial power. The changes in Western Europe were not only political, social and economics but also philosophical, scientific and religious. These changes are also backgrounds of the culture of nation-state and our study's bounds. Aspect of the culture of nation-state in Turkey is seen as the changes of administration of state starting from the time of Selim III to Republic of Turkey. When Republic of Turkey has established as a nation-state the cultural traits of nation-state was seen the conclusion of revolutions.
