Abstract (EN)
The nerve cells that composed the human brain, called neurons, communicate with each other through electrochemical interactions. However, due to some diseases, accidents or traumas, these nerve cells and their connections with each other may be lost or damaged. In this case, the brain loses its ability to control the muscles and motor nervous system. Brain-computer interface systems are alternative systems developed for this purpose and they provide direct communication between the human brain and an external device. The aim of this thesis is to design a brain-computer interface system that can be controlled by EEG signals recorded during the imaginary performance of motor and non-motor activities in order to facilitate the lives of individuals who have healthy cognitive functions but cannot control motor nervous systems. For this purpose, the recorded EEG signals were matched with the letters depending on the selected application and the imaginary activities were translated into text. As a result, it has been observed that a general system design is difficult due to the differences of EEG signals from person to person, but an individual system can be designed with high success.
