Abstract (EN)
Objective: In the study, we aimed to investigate the relationship of ISTH scoring with prognosis and MPV in patients with pneumonia due to COVID-19 infection. Materials and methods: In the study, 376 adult patients were hospitalized in the pandemic ward with the diagnosis of pneumonia due to COVID-19 infection and evaluated by retrospective file scanning method. 147 patients, whose ISTH score could be made with the available data, were included in the study. Results: 61.2% of the patients were female, 38.8% were male, and the median age was 65 (Min-Max: 18-94). The length of stay was 5 days for patients hospitalized in the pandemic ward. When the rates of admission to the Intensive Care Unit (15.6%) and its relation with the ISTH score were evaluated, it was observed that the probability of going to the intensive care unit increased as the ISTH score increased (p<0.05). The study revealed that there was no statistically significant difference between the length of stay and MPV. When the patients discharged or transferred to the intensive care unit were evaluated with MPV, a higher MPV score was found in the patients who were transferred to the intensive care unit, although there was no strong statistical difference (p=0.057). In the study, it was marginally significant when compared with the MPV averages of the 3 groups we organized according to the ISTH scores (p = 0.054). A significant increase in MPV was observed as it progresses from the 1st to the 3rd group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The ISTH score we applied to patients who developed pneumonia due to COVID-19 infection and were hospitalized in the Pandemic Ward showed us that patients with a high score would be more likely to go to Intensive Care Unit than patients with a score of 0-1. The MPV value was found to be higher in patients who were transferred from the pandemic ward to the intensive care unit. In patients divided into three groups according to their ISTH scores, it was observed that the MPV value increased as they progressed from the 1st to the 3rd group. Keywords: COVID-19, ISTH, MPV, prognosis.
