Abstract (EN)

In spite of the diversity of theoretical debate, it can be said that alternative media often refer to means of communication outside of corporatization, which can act independently of sovereign powers, openly deny or challenge established and institutionalized politics. As alternative media publications, fanzines can be expected to have an opposing attitude and style to established politics. However, compared to the previous periods of the history of modern Turkey, it is observed that the conservative-Islamist youth publish fanzines despite having the opportunity to raise their voices in the mainstream media more. This study claims to reveal the reasons for conservative-Islamist youth to turn to alternative media, the topics they deal with in their fanzines and how they address the topics, through the analysis of the various issues of six fanzines published between 2011-2018.
