A dissident media practice: the case of "Halk TV"

The main reason in the emergence of television is showing the distant lands. But after the invention of artificial function of time it has gained in political and commercial terms. Today's dominant media of a few large companies around the non-profit sector is concentrated in the publishing, development of alternative media have tried to break the existing hierarchical structure, is of paramount importance to ensure democratic participation. In Turkey, under pressure from the neo-liberal politics and the economy, another practice outside of the mainstream media cycle it has begun to sprout. Especially in 2013 Gezi Park Protests taking place in society are not reflected in the mainstream media news to reach a wide audience; "dissident media" have made themselves more visible examples. One such example is the Halk TV. In this study, alternative television broadcasting in terms of Halk TV's "dissident media", when we look at the concept framework "news for the public", which can be maintained in the lines and phrases are discussed how they can offer an alternative approach to conventional media. Making in-depth interviews with Halk TV employees required data for the study were obtained by analyzing and television broadcasts.
