Abstract (EN)
Many people die not only in our country but also in the world due to occupational hazards and vocational diseases. This situation that has been ongoing since the past cannot be prevented due to the lack of the precautions taken as well as the fact that sufficient importance is not given to worker's rights. Occupational hazards have decreased significantly in number as a result of the effective precautions taken in recent years. However, whereas these precautions are more in developed countries, they are much less in developing or underdeveloped countries. Many occupational hazards that take place due to lack of precautions cause workers to become disabled thus resulting in more damage to the country economy. Significant gains can be acquired by taking the necessary precautions for protecting the workers thereby preventing loss of labor and work days. In this study, risk evaluation process which has become an obligation in our country with the law numbered 6331 dated 2012 for protecting the health of the workers and ensuring their safety that should be carried out at every workplace was carried out at the Anadolu University Faculty of Engineering laboratories via control list and L-type matrix methods. The questions and evaluation tables prepared in accordance with risk evaluation methods were carried out at a total of 57 laboratories in 7 departments thus aiming to put forth the risks as well as the precautions that should be taken. Required precautions for preventing the primary risks determined as such were taken after which preventive studies to ensure that employees work under minimum risk were carried out. In addition, a fundamental data infrastructure was prepared for carrying out a more detailed risk studies at required locations and to develop future OHS studies. Various devices and equipment specific to every department should be evaluated separately and relevant precautions should be taken. It has been determined according to risk evaluation results that there are many different risks in each department. It has also been determined that the necessary precautions should be taken to eliminate these risks.
