ABSTRACT A SYNTACTIC STUDY OF MUSTAFA KUTLU'S STORY CALLED "BU BÖYLEDİR" THİS İS SO. Mehmet AH ÖZKAN The Bacis Studies of Turkish Language and Literature Afyon Kocatepe University Institute of Social Sciences June 2003 Supervisor: Assisstant Professor: Erdoğan BOZ We reached after ve had examined thirty pages that are selected from the book that is so ( Bu Böyledir) word composition examination in these conclusions below. 1. We counted 629 sentences in this selected part. We see must of the sentences that are used there are basic. Although there are serial incomplete, united and connected sentences. 2. When we look at the predicates, the sentences are verbal according to Turkish syntantical structure. We do not include united sentences and combined sentences in this examination. Becuse a sentences structurally is either basic or combined or serial or connected. 3. Wen we study the places of the verbs ve examine only basic and united sentences. 4. When we had studied whether the sentences are affirmative or negative, we saw that there had been used affirmative sentences mustly. 5. After we appHed on the selected part we counted 1270 word groups. Must of them are adjective status consructus. Noun constructus followed them. After that there are adjective verbs and adverb verbs. 6. Genarally subjects are used in the book. Then adverb. We do not include in this study verbs because there should be verbs in all sentences except for imcomplete ones. We gave all the tables of the studies in our thesis. The conclusion is that Mustafa Kutlu used basic, short sentences in his book called. This is so (Bu Böyledir). He used analyses and descriptions. We can see Anatolion way of life and Anatolian using of language in this book easily.
