Religion and ethics in Mustafa Rahmi Balaban

This thesis; The aim of this study is to reveal the views of Mustafa Rahmi Balaban, who is engaged in copyright and translation activities in fields such as psychology, pedagogy, philosophy, ethics, Turkish language, children's literature, civilization and cultural history, on religion and morality. Balaban had a significant impact on the development of his country and the promotion of Western culture and value with his writing activities as well as his forty-three years of education and administrative work. Mustafa Rahmi Balaban has been one of the important encyclopedists since the first period of the republic and pioneered in the field of morality and religion. Our thinker sees the morality based only on religion, which was accepted in the Ancient Age, as wrong, and also the ethics based on science, which is accepted in the Modern Age, as wrong. According to him, it is most beneficial to combine both of morality. Just as morality based on science is flawed, morality based on religion is also flawed. It is seen that he advocates changing some religious provisions according to the ages and supporting this with science.
