Description of the problems of families that have childrenwith autism who are talented in music

It is important to identify, understand and define the musical abilities of the individuals properly, for carrying out qualified and healthy music education process. Individuals who learn differently have an important place in music education in our country and in the World. Among individuals with Down syndrome, autism, partiallysighted, deaf, hyperactive and learning difficulties, there are ones that are gifted to music and there are even those who pass from amateur music to professional music education and choose music as a profession. It is thought that the negative consequences that are seen in the music educations of individuals who learn differently, especially individuals with autism, are linked to reasons such as family, teacher, education system etc. Among other problems identified are also the lack of knowledge and experience, the fact that the education materials towards the subject are almost non-existent, and that there are few specialist (branch-music teacher) educators for the education of different learning individuals. Autism; is a lifelong development impairment with communication and social interaction problems. Parents regard music education as a way out to solve their children's problems. After their children realize their ability to music consciously or unconsciously, indirectly or indirectly, they face other problems. In this study, it is aimed to describe all the problems the families face since their children start to discover their musical abilities. In the qualitative study based on scanning model, the data was obtained with structured interviewing technique and it was resolved and interpreted again according to this technique. This study, which dealt with the problems of families with individuals with autism with musical abilities, in detail, is thought to be important with regards to being domainspecific, and that there are few studies on individuals who learn differently and music, autism and music, and to be a source for the families, specialists and scientists that are sensitive to the subject.
