Abstract (EN)

Nur al-Din al-Sâbûnî is one of the distinguished scholars of the Maturidism who lived at the beginning of the 6/12 has criticized Mu'tazila in both of his works al-Kifâya fi al-Hidâya and al-Bidâya fi Usul al-Din. This study aims to explain the matters involving these criticisms and the general style of these criticisms. The subjects that Sâbûnî criticizes the views of Mu'tazila concentrate on Islamic epistemology and ontology, divine adjectives, the matters of ta'dil (lit. amendment) and tajvir (lit. equate with persecution) concerning the relationship of Allah with the universe, nubuwwah (prophethood), faith and some sam'iyyat issues. In this study; first of all, the Mu'tazila scholars' science definitions which constitute the subject of epistemology, the views on existence that express the basis of the ontology subject, and Sâbûnî's approaches and criticisms to these issues were discussed. Afterwards, criticisms on the attributes of Allah were mentioned, and the issues related to the divine actions that deal with the relationships between Allah-universe, Allah-humanity and the universe-humanity were included in the ta'dil and tajvir matters. Thereafter, the criticisms of Sâbûnî towards Mu'tazila about nubuwwah, faith issues and some sam'iyyat issues were included.
