Abstract (EN)

The Chuvashes are a distant and mysterious Turkic society. Chuvashes, who have a language dissimilar to other Turkic languages, live in different parts of the Russian Federation. This study deals with the customs and traditions of the Chuvash Turks living in the Nurlat region of Tatarstan. Different issues such as birth, childhood, daily life, wedding, soldiering, death, meals, folklore were sometimes compared with other Turkic societies. The main aim and desire of the study is to get to know and introduce the Chuvashes of Tatarstan republic and to contribute to Turkey's knowledge about Chuvashes.
