US-China relations in Obama era

In this study, has been focused on the course of changes, expectations and events in U.S.-Chinese relations that developed during the Obama era. The historical process of the relations between the two countries is outlined. In addition, in the new order in the post-Cold War period, the characteristics of the foreign policies and the nature of changes in the distribution of power were tried to be determined. The level of analysis of the study was determined as the international system. The US-China relations, which began on the basis of trade relations, have a wide variety of relations in some periods of cooperation and in some periods of cooperation. The period of increasing cooperation in the post-Cold War period has turned into economic competition after the 2008 global economic crisis. Barack Obama, who was elected president during this period, faced problems such as the effects of the economic crisis, the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the corrupt of allied relations, as well as the problem of rising China as a rival to the US. While the US has generally followed the "smart power" strategy against these problems, it has continued to implement, toward China in priority policy by not making too many changes, on security issues "containment, while economic issues "engagement" policy. China continued its development with the idea of "peaceful rise" while at the same time developing a wide variety of strategies to secure its ascent. Thus, the competition between the two countries led to the emergence of certain opinions about the future of the international system. In general, although there is no change in the system due to the deepening of the inter-dependency relationship between the US and China and the reluctance of China to international leadership, it is likely that there will be an arrangement in the economic field.
