Investigation of the relationship between perceptions of organizational hypocrisy and psychological well-being of faculty members

Abstract (EN)
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to reveal the relationship between the organizational hypocrisy perceptions of the academic staff and their psychological wellbeing. Method: The relational model was used in the research. The universe of the research is the university lecturers of Eskişehir, the sample of the research consists of 345 lecturers from three different universities in Eskişehir. The data were obtained by applying organizational hypocrisy and psychological well-being scales. Descriptive statistics, normal distribution, reliability test, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, correlation and multiple regression analyzes were performed on the obtained data using SPSS 26 statistical program. Results: Negative and moderately significant relationships were found between the teaching staff's sub-dimensions of organizational hypocrisy, keeping promises, perceptions of harmony between internal structure and environment, total perceptions of organizational hypocrisy, and psychological well-being. A low-level significant negative relationship was reached with the inconsistencies in practices sub-dimension. A highly positive and significant relationship was found between the total organizational hypocrisy and keeping promises, harmony between internal structure and environment, and inconsistencies in practices. It reveals that the independent variable, organizational hypocrisy, can explain 19% of the academic staff's psychological well-being scores. Conclusion and Suggestions: According to the results of the research, there is a negative and significant correlation between the organizational hypocrisy perceptions of the instructors and their psychological well-being. For this reason, it is recommended that faculty members should reduce their perceptions of organizational hypocrisy by devoloping appropriate discourse and consistent regulations.
