An examination of teachers? perception of primary school managers? problem solving qualifications (The example of İstanbul Anadolu side)

In this study, teachers? perceptions of primary school managers? problem solving qualifications (skills) have been investigated in terms of teachers? some demographics. The study was conducted as a differentiation model. The sample of the study, which consisted of 60 primary school managers and 235 teachers, has been randomly selected from Istanbul districts of Beykoz, Ümraniye ve Üsküdar in 2012-2013 academic calendar year. The research data has been obtained using a questionnaire with two parts. In the first part of the questionnaire some demographics of the teachers asked such as gender, age, education level and so on. In the second part of the questionnaire there was Problem Solving Scale which was developed by Heppner ve Petersen (1982) to determine the people?s problem solving skill level. The scale was adapted into Turkish by Şahin and other (1993). The mean (X), standard deviation (SD), independent groups t-test, one-way analysis of variance (Anova) and significant difference test (post-hoc Scheffe) were applied for the analysis of the obtained data. According to the findings, it has been concluded that male teachers, teacher over 31 years old, married teachers, primary school teachers, under graduated teachers, teacher who were in profession over 16 years, teacher who were working under crowded schools, teachers who had been chosen the occupation as a first choise and teachers who have had family and colleague?s support were more positive about their school managers? problem solving qualifications.
