Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to identify the needs of teachers and pre-service teachers regarding adult education and based on these needs, to develop, implement, and evaluate a hybrid massive open online course program. Within the scope of this study, which adopted a multi-phase mixed-methods design, data were collected from 144 pre-service teachers and 56 in-service teachers through electronic surveys, semi-structured interviews, and learning analytics. Based on a comprehensive needs analysis study, a hybrid massive open online course program was designed, improved after a pilot implementation, and a four-week main implementation was carried out. The findings show that the program has the potential to improve teachers' and pre-service teachers' knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to adult education; that its technical infrastructure, content quality, and interaction elements are generally functional; however, there are areas for improvement such as sustaining motivation, time management, and interaction diversity. The study reveals the necessity of developing comprehensive strategies that will contribute to strengthening adult education competencies both in pre-service and inservice teacher education and provides important evidence regarding the applicability of the hybrid massive open online course program in the literature.
