Abstract (EN)

Schools as the basic units of educational administration, transform the aim of raising children and youth into practice. Schools are also places that we can observe the consistency between goal-structure-activity in educational administration. Main activity of a school is education and instruction. Teachers as the structural body of the school are the main responsible body for implementing these activities. Whether professional activities performed by teachers satisfies the consistency between goal-structure-activity can be analysed as its indicator. Therefore, this study mainly aimed at analysing and describing the influence of non-teaching professional activities on their perceived teaching quality in terms of consistency between activity-structure-goal. The study, organized in a stepwise manner, gathered quantitative and qualitative data through both unstructured and semi-structured interviews. The study groups (N1=10, N2=88, N3=5) were consisted of teachers who work in primary, lower-secondary and upper-secondary level public schools located in city centre of Aksaray province in 2017-2018 school year through purposive and convenience sampling techniques. Data, collected by the researcher-made interview forms, were analysed by both descriptive statistical techniques and content analyse technique. At the end of the study, the average professional workload of a teacher in a school year is found as totally 690 hours. The proportion of non-teaching workload in total professional workload is only 5 %. The biggest sized workload among the non-teaching professional activities that positively influence on teachers' instructional quality is to organize 'meeting with parents' however, the similar but negative influence made by 'guarding duty in school'. Discussion of the results in terms of effectiveness in educational administration supported the satisfaction of consistency between goal-structure-activity. Along with the results, suggestions for implementation and research were developed.
