Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship of basketball players in the youth category participating in school sports with their coaches. In order to reach a general level of knowledge on the subject, a literature review was conducted and scales for concepts suitable for research were determined. The scales determined together with the personal information form were applied as a survey to the sample group within the determined universe. In the research, of the individuals evaluated sports and scales determining the level of coach-athlete relationship were used. A five-point Likert type ("1. Strongly Disagree", "2. Disagree", "3. Undecided", "4. Agree", "5. Strongly Agree") method was used to obtain data from the scales used. The population of the research consists of athletes interested in basketball. The sample of our research consists of 151 participants who are interested in basketball sports. The results of the quantitative data obtained in the research; It was evaluated using descriptive, relational and mediation effect techniques. In order to analyze the statistical values of the research data, SPSS 22 program and its add-on Macro Process were used. Before starting the analysis, missing and empty data were examined to see whether there were any incorrect data entries in the data set transferred to the program and necessary corrections were made. According to the results of our research, most basketball players have a positive relationship with their coaches and 75% of them stated that they were satisfied with their communication. There is a strong relationship between coaches' leadership style and athletes, with 80% highlighting the positive effects of leadership style. However, 20% stated that they had communication problems with their coaches and that this negatively affected their performance. Additionally, 85% were satisfied with their coaches' basketball knowledge, and it was observed that the coaches' knowledge and experience had a positive impact on young athletes.
