Examination of online education's relationship with exam anxiety and psychological resistance of the students preparing for university

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the relationship of online education with exam anxiety and psychological resilience of students preparing for the university exam. The sample of the study consists of a total of 200 students 119 females (59.5%) and 81 males (40.5%) preparing for the university exam who graduated from various high schools or in the last year of high school from Tarsus district of Mersin province. Personal Information Form, Test Anxiety Scale, Adolescent Resilience Scale, and Attitude Towards Web-Based Education scale were applied by interviewing the students face to face. IBM SPSS 25 program was used in the analysis of the obtained scale data. ANOVA (F test) was used in cases where the assumption of normality is met, and the independent groups t-test was used in the analysis of Brown-Forsythe and 2-group variables. Mann-Whitney U test was used in cases where the assumption of normality is not provided, Pearson Correlation Analysis to examine the correlation between scales, and Chi-Square, Yate's statistics, and multivariate regression analysis for the relations of categorical variables with each other. As a result of the analysis, no difference was found in the exam anxiety levels and psychological resilience of the students in online education and face-to-face education. Exam anxiety (p<0.001) and psychological resilience (p=0.003) of students differ according to the gender variable. Also, exam anxiety (p=0.02) and psychological resilience (p=0.02) of students differ according to the circumstances of their school support (p=0.01) and technological opportunities. It was determined that there is a significant relationship between students' psychological resilience and exam anxiety. A negative correlation relationship was found between exam anxiety and psychological resilience. It was concluded that there was a significant difference (p=0.001) between exam anxiety and psychological resilience according to diploma grades.
