Abstract (EN)

This study focuses on the evaluation of open and green spaces within the Kırcami Implementation Zoning Plan located in the Muratpaşa district of Antalya, within the framework of sustainability. The thesis investigates how these areas should be preserved and planned in line with ecological, social, and economic sustainability goals aimed at enhancing urban quality of life. The research emphasizes the importance of sustainable landscape practices and proposes water-saving models particularly suited to arid climate conditions. It is stated that implementing sustainability components would contribute to the preservation of ecological balance. In the urban planning process, in addition to sustainability principles, the utilization of organic agricultural areas compatible with the natural structure and character of the region is included. It is also suggested that educational institutions could use these areas for agricultural education and to raise environmental awareness. By identifying the current state of these areas, the thesis explores how they should be planned in accordance with sustainability goals to improve urban life quality. It underlines the significance of sustainable landscape applications and stresses that planning should be carried out with necessary precautions to protect ecological balance. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of integrating landscape designs with agricultural zones during the urbanization of rural areas, and draws attention to the relevance of such approaches for similar regions in the future.
