Abstract (EN)

An Investigation Recycling on Pulp-Paper Industry Solid Waste (Lime Mud) Materials For Stabilization Purpose On The Forest Roads Forest roads are exposed deformation because of heavy load transported on its survey, weather conditions and other natural effects. Suitable superstructure and sub-grade are very important to obtain continuous transport and expand forest roads life. In this study, an alternative stabilization technique for pavement and sub-grade of forest road is investigated. For this purpose, lime mud, supplied from Afyon-Çay Pulping Mill producing bleached kraft pulp, is mixed with composite cement for pavement layer. Unconfined compressive strength, setting time, Le Chateller soundness, Main fineness, density and specific weight of mixtures are measured. The photo of concrete samples was taken with Scanning Electron Microskop (SEM). Furthermore, lime mud is mixed with sandy clay, loamy clay and clay soils for forest road sub-grade. Changes of physical properties of soils were determined by triaxial compression, Atterberg limits, consolidation, compaction, water content and consistency limit tests. The result of studies showed that, the most suitable samples in terms of high compressive strength was obtained by addition of 5-10 % lime mud to the mixture. Thus, 5-10 % lime mud should be added to the mixture for optimum strength. Adding the 5-10 % lime mud to mixture positively affect compressive strength, compaction and Atterberg limits of sandy clay, loamy clay and clay soils. It can be concluded that lime mud can be used for base and sub-base layers of forest roads for these types soil. This study reveals that, lime mud, a waste material of paper mills, can be used as stabilization materials forest road sub-grade and pavement. Hence, hazardous lime mud of paper mills is recycled without giving any damage to environment and an alternative low cost stabilization material is also produced.Key Words: Forest Roads, Lime Mud, Cement, Soil Stabilization, Unconfined Compressive Strength Test, Triaxil Soil Strength VIII
