Abstract (EN)

Lake, irrigation system, hunting grounds, fishing reserve, forest and pasture are main examples of common goods. Common goods are generally managed by government. Market economy fails in managing common goods. Private sector can manage common goods in some exceptional cases. The use of fish reserve in Alanya and Sinop city traffic management exemplify management of common goods by private sector in Turkey. In this study, fishermen who live in Alanya (Antalya) and people in Sinop are interviewed and observed to answer the question of whether the private sector is successful in managing common goods. In the cases of fish reserve in Alanya and Sinop city traffic management, the findings show that market economy successfully manages common goods, too.
