Abstract (EN)
From the invention of writing to the present, literary genres have emerged based on humans' need for self-expression and emotional fulfillment. Among these genres, poetry is the most prevalent. The earliest examples of written literature were also composed in a poetic style. Poetry consists of works inspired by human life, nature, historical events, and instructive life stories. Poets have developed poetry in different domains by reflecting their emotions in works influenced by love, history, and contemporary events. This study aims to evaluate the poems included in the 6th Grade Turkish textbook in terms of their poetic qualities and themes. It has been determined that the analyzed poems are appropriate for the themes, cater to the students' level, and conform to grammatical rules. It is recommended that poems in Turkish textbooks be selected according to the students' age and language proficiency levels, and that activities designed to enhance their poetry writing and interpretation skills be organized.
